The Johnrico D. Smith Foundation came to life in 2018 by a group of friends who came together with a shared vision: to uplift and empower disadvantaged youth in their community. After countless discussions and brainstorming, we all recognized that it takes a collective effort from people of all backgrounds to provide the necessary exposure and educational training these young individuals need to succeed. In 2019, the foundation tragically lost a close friend, Johnrico Smith, to an auto accident. Johnrico was known for his kindness, outgoing nature, and his ability to make everyone feel valued, no matter their background. In his memory, the foundation continues to honor his spirit by working towards positive change in the lives of youth, fostering an environment where they can grow, learn, and thrive.

            Our board is composed of individuals from diverse backgrounds and varying socioeconomic beginnings, each bringing unique perspectives and experiences. We often say that our board members "know the language" of our target group because they were once in the shoes of those, they now support. This shared experience is a crucial element of our mentorship approach, as it fosters relatability, trust, and a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by the youth we aim to serve. Our board members are fully dedicated to the principle of "Being the Village," working together to support and guide the next generation in meaningful, impactful ways.
